Christine Buffle is a highly experienced language coach and prompter whose work has made a significant impact on international opera productions. A trained soprano fluent in multiple languages, she has been a valued Maestra Suggeritrice (language coach and prompter) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin since the 2018/19 season, where she supports singers in diction, text interpretation, and performance preparation—contributing to clearer communication and stronger dramatic expression on stage.
In recent seasons her expertise in vocal coaching and language nuance has also been sought in other leading opera houses, including engagements with the Volksoper Vienna and with the Korean National Opera, reflecting her international reach and the demand for her skills in preparing singers across linguistic and cultural contexts.
At Deutsche Oper Berlin, Christine plays a central role both behind the scenes and in performance contexts. In rehearsal she works closely with singers on phrasing, pronunciation, and text comprehension in German, Italian, French and other languages to ensure that every word serves the music and the drama. Her deep musical insight and performance experience inform her coaching, helping artists bring greater textual precision and emotional authenticity to their roles.
